Unreal Tournament, Dm-Pressure - Good times for me :D

CreepingInflator

I would like to put out there that there is a weaponin a game that causes your enemies to expand and then explode called the Wave Gun/Max Wave Gun, but you are using it against zombies rather than living beings.

bigballoonboi13

I know this comment is really old but I just want to say that I know EXACTLY what you are talking about :)
Call of Duty: Black Ops. One of the game's DLC Zombie Survival maps is Moon, whose 'Wonder-Weapon' is the Wave Gun / Zapgun Dual-Wield. The zapguns are like lightning pistols, which are cool, but the Wave Gun arcs a hell of a lot further and causes zombies to inflate and explode :D If only the animation for it was better. And you could use it on something other than a zombie. I sometimes fantasize, being the bifag that I am, about turning it on one of the other protagonists and watching them expand in their space suits <3

I did manage to find these with a quick search on TVTropes:

- Yume Penguin Monogatari ("Dream Penguin Story"), where you play a penguin trying to lose weigh to impress his girlfriend. Falling in water will instantly make you as fat as you can get, and all the enemies throw food at you which will quickly fatten you up. One level is set in a giant cake. A piracy check, when failed, will cause you to instantly bulk up as soon as you're hit.

- Cheng Sinzan from Fatal Fury already has a nearly spherical torso, but he can plus inflate himself with air during at least one of his attacks.

- Similar to Fighter's History, Breakers Revenge has Maherl's even more hilarious BALLOONO attack, in which he inflates and attempts to slam his opponent into the ground

- In Super Scribblenauts, fattening foods will turn anyone who eats them instantly into "Fat", "Chubby", and "Obese" versions of themselves, which involves simply stretching the body portion of the sprite to be wider. Using a potion with one of those adjectives will achieve the same effect.

Not trying to do a plug or advertize here, but I have a thread in the "Software" section that shows off a game I am making that is based around inflation.

Also, I didn't particuarly enjoy the TimeSplitters Injection gun inflation; It just looked rigid and weird for me, that and the bloody mess afterwards. Still a fun gun to use though! :P

Possible new content in the new Syndicate game being released. Not sure if it is caused by a gadget or a weapon but the effects seems to look like it makes the enemy buldge in multiple parts of their body before exploding. It is nothing ground breaking, but something new at the very least.

Those of you who volunteered to be injected with praying mantis DNA, I've got some good news and some bad news. Bad news is we're postponing those tests indefinitely. Good news is we've got a much better test for you: fighting an army of mantis men.

Really? That sounds great. I just played the demo and think the game is gonna be excellent.

It was one featured on both Gametrailers.com I believe IGN. It was the gadget trailer so if you look back I am pretty sure you could find it.

Another new inflation in a game for anyone who is interested.

The game is called Escape Plan and is for the Vita. Basically control two monotone critters, one big, one small. The small one gets the ability to infate himself/herself/it with helium to float around to reach new areas.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cPvabLbTEYk

Inflation happens 1:00 into trailer.

Batman Forever The Game (I think there's screenshots here in the forum). Didn't expect that.

I am not very familiar with this type of game. I am a big fan of Jewel Quest 3 though, are there any alternatives for that? Please let us know whether you have news about this.

LittlePumpkin

Did I already tell about Rayman origins? You blow up if you're hit, and the monsters blow up if you hit them. Inclusive a neat sound effect. :D
Main reason I played that game hahaha.

And oh my god, I want to play that playstation Vita game! Looks like the most inflationish game I know so far!  It even has an air compressor. :o

LittlePumpkin

I played Escape Plan! I like it! The best game involving inflation so far. And it doesn't involve inflation to kill like most others, but to use! There are a lot levels where you can inflate your character and float with him. And it has a nice hissing sound, it looks rubbery and when you deflate you hear a laugh. :D

Lateralus87 (not verified)

The inflation in Escape Plan looks pretty sweet, only wish there was a female character, even tho the art design is already androgynous to begin with.

1. I know in Crash Bandicoot Warped and Huge Adventure, there are pufferfish enemies that will inflate scuba crash if he touches them. Im not sure how this is done. Do the blowfish have a poison as a defense mechanism, do they turn up the oxygen in crash's o2 tank, or do they inflate themselves and blow the air in crash like in a cartoon? Unfortunately there isnt a setting in the games where you can switch the positions of crash and coco so the pufferfish can inflate coco. :(

2. In Mortal Kombat 9, Kitana's kiss of death is more gory and disturbing than funny or sexy like her previous kisses. However, Rain developed his own inflatality for this game. Its called the bubble burst. Look it up.

darth_clone19
darth_clone19's picture

There is no kiss of death in MK 9, not that I know of. She has de decapitation, and the one when she spills the character's guts and then slices the head in half. Rain's fatality is the only inflatality in that game.

Oh also there is a totally spies online flash game called mission clover. If clover hits the objects too many times, her suit blows up like a balloon and she humiliatingly falls down the sky.

I don't know how appealing this would be to anyone here but in the game Dragon's Dogma theres an enemy that if attacked my fire something interesting happens. The enemies belly swells up rather big and explodes. It's male and it's a zombie so to each his own. I like it :P

Heres a link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fv9n05vmb24&feature=related (Starts around 5:00)

Wasn't there some type of Nintendo DS puzzle games that involved an inflation move? It's very hard to remember but it was mentioned here before. I think it was about some anime girl who was a detective or something, you get to a part that someone is blocking your path and the only way through is to pump her (or him up) like a balloon. Sorry to sound so vague but I know it was discussed a few years back...

Not sure if this other scene would appeal to anyone unless you have a curiosity for serious medical failure experiments with very gross results. A game for the playstation 1 called Fear Effect 2 Retro Helix, the intro scene involves some surgeons injecting some strange blue liquid to a patient's belly. The bloody reaction starts spreading all over her and she starts bleeding everywhere so expect to see lots of blood although no explosion after her belly has swollen. She is presumed dead but surprisingly awakens and starts killing one of the surgeons. Trust me, it was probably one of the grossest inflation scene I ever saw, at least in video games but could have been worse (like Species).

To try and lighten things up, the new upcoming Battle Royale All Stars game has the "fat princess" character in it. Wonder if she would feature any weight gain moves or something.

Somedude

That was indeed the first Touch Detective game on DS, chief. You had to pump a bird lady who was your landlady in your apartment up with air in a dream sequence. ...That's a rare sentence. Anyway, it ends up being relatively important later on in that chapter, but it doesn't happen again... though it IS mentioned as the character having a history of doing it, so huh.

phantomcrow

Yay :D Thanks fer the info.

Succoria

I just read in GameInformer that in New Super Mario Bros. U, when  you hold the pink baby Yoshi, it'll inflate and you'll jump higher than normal if you shake the Wiimote

phantomcrow

Found the Touch Detective DS air pump scene, well not actually a scene. Nothing visually appealing to witness, no animation sequence or anything, but maybe a bit interesting to watch the dialogue as you said, plus there is commentary in the vid kinda makes it sound funny. Just start viewing from 12:15 (only if interested). That's it.

New semi inflation in Tekken Tag Tournament 2.

There are people who you have to hit with certain combo's or tag assists etc, and the more you hit them the bigger they inflate. Up to the point where you hit them and they float up and out of the screen before popping and raining cash/items/etc down to you.

HeavyMetalBlood (not verified)

How is that only semi inflation? It sounds like straight up inflation to me, and got any links?

Blue_Eyes
Blue_Eyes's picture

Because they just have big bellies as far as I've seen. Their inflation is more of their character growing in size as well. They don't go from like regular size to inflated.

It is in the Tekken Fight Lab and I think there is a clip around.

*le checks*

Happens at 1:15 and as of right now I've only seen male inflation.

OK, I've never seen this one before. In Final Fantasy 8 there's a monster called a Wendigo. It has attacks where it inflates its victim into a ball and bounces them around. I found the clip on DailyMotion: Selphie and Rinoa get bounced

Fukureru-Shogun

Huh, that's oddly appealing. Good find!

pballooned

Wow. That's pretty interesting.

It reminds me that in this forum someone uses the username WendigoSkin, he he :)

caffiene

Wow, that is surprisingly enjoyable.  There's a second video where he does Quistis as well in the 'similar videos' to the side.

...I meant that sarcastically.

HeavyMetalBlood (not verified)

I totally love it when this community finds ancient 'inflation easter eggs' like this! I never really played FF8 before but I can't believe this was never found or mentioned by anyone before!

WendigoSkin

I would never think someon could find a connection between wendigos and inflation apart from my very existence. And no, I did not choose my nickname thinking of Final Fintasy (never played).

Oh my God!! An inflation bit not only in a Final Fantasy game, at least that I know of, and probably because this was never brought up for some reason. Despite the lack of limbs and head visible, it is still an enjoyable inflation change. It reminds me of the various transformation art I occasionally see on DeviantArt.

darth_clone19
darth_clone19's picture

I remember this but somehow I never saw it as blowing them up at the time. Just saw it as magically turning them into balls.

Yeah, as far as I know, that attack is more relative to Looney Toons when someone gets squished into a basketball and thrown around. It was so random to see that happen at first, its oddly comical, especially so considering how serious FF8 likes to take itself.

Life is always a bit better once you pop a few buttons.

There is inflation in the new side scrolling RPG Dragon's Crown (Amazing game by the way, would highly suggest playing it)

There is a fat zombie (Dungeon 2 I believe) who if you attack enough will inflate big before exploding and sending acid all over the map. The sound effects are the classic balloon inflating sound which makes the short scene even better.

Definitley not for everyone but for those who would enjoy it, bon appetite.

I found it on a walkthrough on YouTube. I'd post the link but i'm on my phone. But search "Dragons Crown walkthrough catacombs". It should be like the first video by IGNGameplay. It starts about 1:45.

Max Payne 3 - When you are in the Favela after you shave your head, there is a television you can watch that starts with a advert for a local plastic surgeon. It shows a female siloette whos butt and boobs expand in size. Bonus for those into male inflation, there is a male siloette who loses his beer belly and his dick expands in size.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wOqxg9vqqu8

Starts at 7:32

Chaos Code - A fun little Japanese arcade fighter game. It features a character named Celia 2 who is a robot maid thing. Anyways one of her attacks has her boobs expand in size before glowing and becoming missles that are shot at your feet. Nothing overly breath taking but I have yet to see it mentioned so just throwing it out there. Also, for the others who have happened to play it...Fuck Kudlak >:(

Saints Row 4 - Most probably already know about this, but there is a new gun features called a Inflate-O-Ray. Shooting people with its green beam causes them to bloat up before exploding in a gory mess. Only down side is their head does most of the inflating before they go kaboom.

Scribblenaughts: Unmasked - The newest game lets you use or create your own heros. One of them is a character called Bouncing Boy. He can inflate rather large. You can use the editor to create some customer or already exsisting characters. Full spherical inflation, so probably will only appeal to certain likes.

Disney Infinity - Disney GTA basically...anyways there is a weapon unlocked after collecting a certain amount of flags (I believe) called the Glow Urchin. You throw it at people and it causes them to swell up.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wfv39NUmXNs

As seen at the end of this video. Though other gameplays shots of it have been difficult to come by.

That is all I've come across lately, hopefully we see some more in the future.

im in the hopes that someone mods saints 4 for pc so that the inflatoray animation acts different

Inflatefan89

And in Disney Infinity 3.0 we get a vehicle that does the same thing as the Urchins (it makes them fat, and it does not work on Star Wars or Marvel cast), a minor update.

Leisure Suit Larry has inflations, usually a guy or Larry himself. #5 has a joke in the FBI lab where a scientist with long hair takes a drug intended to embarrass world leaders by causing extreme flatulence.  The scientist blows up like a balloon, bounces around the lab then flies off screen while deflating.  In Shape Up Or Ship Out, Larry inflates when he touches a taco truck tire.

You might find both in Leisure Suit Larry collections.
