Technical Difficulties Backups Are Your Friend
Posted by LutherVKane on Tuesday, January 19, 2010 (02:08:32) (741 reads)

I've got bad news, good news, and bad news.

Some of you might have noticed a recent glitch in the matrix. Something Very Bad happened to the database. It passed on. Ceased to be. Gone to meet its maker. Pining for the fjords, if you will.

"Then how" you might ask, "am I able to look at the site now if the database is dead?"

Go ahead, ask.

Site News Twitter and the Art of Web Site Construction
Posted by LutherVKane on Tuesday, April 07, 2009 (08:46:19) (619 reads)

I signed up to Twitter.

I've actually been on for a couple of weeks. But I finally figured out how it could be useful, aside from being a dumping ground for brief random thoughts.

For some time now (time = years) I've been talking about and working on a new version of BodyInflation.org. So I'm going to use Twitter to post updates on progress. I figure if I actually talk about what I'm doing and people are actually looking at it, I'll feel more motivation to get it finished.

You can follow along at https://twitter.com/LutherVKane and get a peek into what goes into building a site such as this.

Technical Difficulties Sheesh
Posted by LutherVKane on Tuesday, November 07, 2006 (03:54:57) (2689 reads)

I go away for a few days, and the site up and dies on me. Things should be going more smoothly now, but perhaps we're getting to that point where it's time to burn the server down and start over.

Body Inflation X
Posted by LutherVKane on Thursday, July 06, 2006 (06:34:01) (6779 reads)

Ten years.

It's happening in six months. Roughly. That's when I'll be celebrating ten years as a webmaster. What a long, strange trip it's been.

I'll try to do something special for the occasion. At the speed I work, I should start planning now.

Announcements: Login Problems
Posted by LutherVKane on Monday, May 29, 2006 (20:07:31) (1860 reads)

For the past couple of days, a bunch of you were getting an error at login telling you that you needed to enable cookies. I messed up a setting in one of the server updates I applied last week, and that was causing the problem. Everything should be fixed now. If any of you continue to have problems logging in, email me.

Changes to the Image Gallery
Posted by LutherVKane on Wednesday, January 18, 2006 (10:40:24) (3219 reads)

I've made a few changes to the image gallery.

There's a new gallery called Screen Captures. We have a number of pictures of inflation scenes from movies and TV. They're different enough from inflation artwork and numerous enough that I think they warrant a separate gallery.

You can now upload a picture and assign it to the Inflation Images or Screen Captures gallery. The Upload Gallery doesn't serve any purpose besides being a placeholder for uploaded images, but I'll keep it around for a while do people don't get too confused. All upoaded images will still have to be approved before they appear.

The biggest change is in the artist galleries. I've made a few available to nonymous users. Previously, all artists galleries were only viewable by people who were registered and logged in. This is another experiement; I'll see if the site can handle the additional load, and make more available if it can.

Site News Announcements: MakeHuman update
Posted by LutherVKane on Monday, November 14, 2005 (09:54:15) (2807 reads)

Something for you 3D folks out there.

In the words of its creators, The purpose of MakeHuman is "to provide a versatile, professional and extremely specialized application for parametrical modeling of three-dimensional humanoid characters." Project MakeHuman recently released a new demo of the version of the software in development. Why should you care?

1) The software allows for some rather fascinating and bizarre deformations of the figures.

2) It's free.

Check it out.

Site News Change is good.
Posted by LutherVKane on Thursday, July 07, 2005 (09:43:38) (3064 reads)

Some of you may have noticed that the Downloads section has disappeared. Most of you probably haven't noticed, since the BitTorrent tracker hasn't been working too well for a while. I've started experimenting with other forms of file distribution.
