Inflation in video games

Hi all, I wanted to bring up this subject to talk about inflation in games.

I'm sure there are quite a few inflation moments throughout the history of gaming, but one that sticks in my mind from my childhood years is from the Crash Test Dummies game for the Sega Genesis/Super Nintendo.

I believe during the second or third level there was a red balloon thing that inflated you when you touched it. I'm not sure if the thing was supposed to be a powerup or a obstacle that you should avoid, but regardless you could inflate your self (in the game) more and more by pressing up on the d pad until you were spherical round. I was shocked and surprised when I first found that, but remember playing that level over and over just to get hit by that thing, such good memories ^^

Of course its bit of a shame that the character in the game is male but the inflation is very good surprisingly, here are some screen shots I found. You'll have to scroll down the page a bit but they're there.

For other games I've seen inflation in is of course the P Balloon power up in the Super Mario world game but that's all I can think of offhand.

No matter what anyone says about the gender-I had and maintain an attraction to the NiGHTS characters of the respective games.

I recall an inflation within the, "Soft Museum" level when NiGHTS bumped into something on one of the levels. Parts of the entire level seemed to be based around-so as a kid I enjoyed the thought of the air transferring from the level to her. I made sure to bump into that thing multiple times.

This was a level of the female character's-so I like to think the female character combining with NiGHTS makes this-in my eyes-a female inflation. :)

This "museum" level you guys are talking about sounds really interesting. I never really got to play the Saturn nor did I know anyone that had one, so I completely missed out on NiGHTS =S

A nifty gun called "Injector" inflates your enemies until they explode, also goes really well with the "Fat character" cheats. ^_^

A character named Jedah inflated people to the point of bursting with his arm. Lilith's inflation is the best ^_^.

JoJo's Bizarre Adventure
A character (can't remember her name) puffs up her breasts and shoots some sort of metal objects out of them.

Turok Rage Wars
Has a gun similar to the injector gun that either slowly inflates the enemy or inflates them fast and them pop.

No mention of the original inflation video game "Dig Dug"? The one where in order to defeat the monsters, you can stick an air nozzle into them and then use a bicycle pump to blow them up until they pop.

Might as well point out the couple of Mario inflations.

In mario 64 DS, the power flower makes mario inflate just like the good ol P balloon.

In the wario land games (2 and on) when wario gets stung by a Bee his head blows up and makes him float.

I'm mean.

Just a little pointer for Timesplitters and the injector gun.
Create a custom game set the weapons to all baseball bats except 1 injector gun. Create your enemy list and start game. Pick up the injector and wait for the enemies to come to you. Shoot them once and they will swell but they won't attack, shoot them again and they inflate all the way.
Gives you a nice scene to watch the expansion.
Careful though, when they pop they can kill you, so run back a few seconds before they go boom.

I remember once when playing that when I got Fio fat and then she got shot she didn't burst, instead shot up into the air like a deflating balloon. True story.

Maybe its just me but I can't tell which Metal Slug characters are male or female :P Even more advice on Timespliters. Set a game of 16 female characters including yourself (i always play as the busty girl cop :P ) have the weapon only be the injector, turn off time and kill count win (as in the game wont end). you hear moans when the girls get shot and a bunch of inflated women running around popping. for extra fun turn on the fat characters cheat, they get even bigger. i played the hell out of that game when I had it. It is worth playing the story to unlock more female characters. the game is amazing

I heard somewhere that NiGHTS is supposed to represent all children everywhere, so the character was designed (in Japan) to be androgonys. In Japan, this is not an issue because referring to someone by name (even when talking to them) is quite common. Unfortunatly for us stupid Americans, we can't just say NiGHTS 400 times when describing stuff in the instruction booklet, we need to say "He/she, His/Her, and He's/She's. Which means we need to give NiGHTS a gender. Stupid English, having no gender neutral pronouns.

And now you know, and knowing is half the battle!

Has anyone heard of the upcoming PSN game "Fat Princess"? It's a game of capture the flag, only the flag's a princess, and you can feed your princess food to make her bigger and harder for the other team to move. I kid you not. It's an actual puplically sold game based around a WG mechanic.

The prospect of growing big and small at the touch of a button...and being able to squish or get squished.
I found myself wishing it were a 3D game, so I could look up the skirts of the girls, and whisper sweet nothings into the guys' ears, amking them think it was the woman they were facing. I wish there were such a game that I could do this.

Most I've found for inflation games is that. I've heard of the Timesplitters FS gun, and saw an interesting pic about it on dA...but sadly, I've never played it. I wish I could...it would be an interesting sight to see.

What system was that game for?

Yes, I always thought the NiGHTS character was supposed to represent whichever gender the kid was in the level. (ie) you were playing the girl's level so NiGHTS would be a female and vice versa.

It is for the playstation 2 so you can play it on your PS2 or your PS3 if is the backwards compatible model

-The game Bloodrayne 1 and 2 both have a code with increases all female characters breast size.
-Super Mario Sunshine has you inflate plants and some enemies with water
-Klonoa is basically all about inflation. Your character has a ring which puffs enemies up with air. No sequence though.
-Diet-Go-Go has you facing off against food monsters. You hit them they inflate, they hit you the same thing happens.
-Soldier of Fortune has another inflation gun

The inflation in Timesplitters is definitely worth it. I once rented it and beat the game just to get female characters in the multiplayer mode. I used to do that with Turok Rage Wars for the N64...whcih also has an Inflator.

You could play as a guy or a girl, but the girl's expansion was very minimal. There were little scenes in between levels that mostly consisted of the two characters in humorous situations, most of which involving the girl in her usual thin form and the boy comically overweight. Only one has the girl overweight, and even then you don't see much since her back is turned.

I heard through the grapevine that Jennifer in Disgaea 3 has a breast expansion attack.
It's on youtube, but it's from behind. It's better than nothing. Just kinda was hoping for some more 'inflation' sound effects or maybe a bit slower growth.

That Diseagea thing isn't really worth it, it looks like she is smuggling torpedoes and just shoots them, the chibi style and the back view makes it pointless.

Yes I've heard vague rumors of a new Timesplitters game, even tho I have my doubts they'll bring the injector gun over.
