With a paycheck cashed and bills paid and a little extra money left over (unbelieveably so!), I had decided to go out to the mall and do a little shopping. Dressed in tight bun-hugging jeans and a deep vee-neck tight yellow t-shirt that showed off way too much of my cleavage, I walked about browsing the clothing stores and novelty shoppes. With my big 68GG's bouncing and jiggling in my top, I stopped into a jewelry store to check out my best friends.

Blow by Blow Tale #4: All Dressed Up with No Room to Grow

Helia and I were invited to a costume party and Helia had plans for both our costumes. I was not going to argue with her but she was pretty good with stuff like that.

I walked to Helia's house and knocked on the door. "I'm in the backyard!" she yelled sweetly. I walked into her backyard. Helia stood there in her costume. She was dressed as Sailor Moon. She even had that cute Odango Attama hairdo Sailor Moon has.

"Helia, you know Lisa Harrison said she was going as Sailor Moon, didn't you?"

"Yes, love, but I'm going to be a bigger and better Sailor Moon than Lisa." Helia tells me.

My friend Wendy and I sat at a small large round table at a small restaurant in the mall. Wendy was having her usual health plate of sparkling water and a vegetarian sub. I was having pizza, four slices with all the toppings, a chocolate milk and a brownie for dessert. Seated around us were an assortment of mall visitors; a couple old ladies, three young boys at one table, two young mothers with their children and an older guy who was quite intrigued with the newspaper he was reading.

Beach Blanket Blowup

I can hardly believe I finally found some time to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city and spend a day on the beach. I love the sun, the sand, and the sound of the ocean waves rolling up onto shore. I'm going to make the most of this.

When I signed up to study ecology, I had visions of visiting exotic biomes. I daydreamed of swimming through Caribbean reefs and discovering a new species of pufferfish or finding a violet poison dart frog in Amazonia. The reality is that you have to go where the money will take you. So there I was, knee-deep in the effluent from Grimesworth Dye Works in a freezing polluted stream, sifting out the red water mites to take them back to the lab and test them for mutated bacteria. This dominated my life, regardless of the season. I was paying my dues for my PhD.

She always had a certain sway in her walk. Her hips went back and forth like a pendulum, each inch of her curves wrapped in that tight black dress she always wore at the office. Sometimes she caught me looking. With big round eyes she'd stare back at me and smirk, flicking her black bob-cut hair back as she walked away, never looking away. Alice was her name. A short, fierce, beautiful creature. I'd watched her at my lunch break with loving eyes, my attentiveness oft noticed by my co-workers. They weren't surprised.

Neighbours

The girl in the flat opposite drifted onto my balcony. I didn’t see or hear her footfall; hands still clutched about the rail, the gasping sob as she settled, exhaled. So the girl tapped the glass. Twice. And I answered.

“Hello.” She whispered. “Can I come in?”

I’m sick of it. I’m sick of the bullies, the corruption, the stress, and the fear. Most of all the fear. This high school I’m in now has almost everyone afraid or putting fear into others. But not me, not this girl Kate anymore. I’m not afraid, because I’ve learned I’m something more than just another girl. Something more than just another bit of prey. I’m something else entirely.

I’m not letting anyone else spread fear anymore.

Anxiety

I anxiously licked my lips, for what I was I going to be doing once I arrived home from school. Anxiously sat in class after class, wishing the clock would tick faster. Impatiently staring at the clock in each classroom I went with a glare that could kill someone. Nervously stretch my hands throughout class. Eat my lunch with no care at all; hoping it could get my mind of what I wanted to do so badly after school. The seconds inched closer and closer until the final bell of the day rang. It rang so loud I thought I was hearing a joyous melody.
