Soda and pop rocks

How come the soda and pop rocks trick hasn't made it into inflation stories or pics? I'm always hearing people talk about it on inflation sites, yet I haven't seen any stories or pics using that technique.

I saw on Mythbusters that the urban legend of Pop Rocks and soda is false...in fact, it takes much more than the human stomach could handle to actually cause a reaction. However, far be it from facts to stop the inflation community :)

Or use that fact to have some over cocky girl explode in an interesting way.

there is a video on youtube of a girl who drinks both pepsi and mentos (similar myth) to prove it doesn't work and then she explodes, but alas no inflation and the special effects are a bit basic.

Diet coke and mentoes is not a myth. I've tried it (in a bottle!) and it really does produce a spectacular fountain of froth which shoots easily ten feet in the air. I also wrote a story a while back about someone who was forced to swallow a mythical liquid with similar properties, and i've been considering changing it to coke and mentoes and posting it here. Anyone interested?

No, Mentos are indeed a different story.

Ya. We had this in another forum here. It's the same as chalk with carbonaton, the carbonation doing as physical reaction with all the cracks and pocketsi n the mentos. But yea i saw that mythbuster episode...it takes alot to hurt our stomachs.

Come chat with me on IM!!! Keep me from getting lonely!

I remember the classic primary school experiment of mixing vinegar with baking soda (acid + alkali = carbon dioxide if anyone's even remotely interested)

Urgh... I just remembered an old request I was doing based on it >_<
