Tom and Jerry meets Willy Wonka

Okay so I heard that WB was creating this odd match up but I guess it is actually happening. Obviously this isn't the most exciting thing to happen for Wonka/Violet lovers but hey, it's something. The trailer has some Violet moments in it.

Lol wtf is this. Looks like WB really is getting ready for that Willy Wonka Cinematic Universe.

Up next Abott and Costello Meet an Oompa Loompa.

The Miketrix: Fully Shrunk

Mission Gloopossible: Pipe Protocal

Blueberry Shortcake: Violet and Friends

Okay I can't think of anymore.

I'm pretty excited. I dunno about ya'll

sterlingchapel

I'd say I'm actually a bit excited too. I'm always looking for decent Violet content but I agree that WB might be over saturating the whole Wonka brand a little bit.

Interesting. Without reaching the quality of the 1940's, it looks very good. Pretty good considering it is not a theatrical release.

I Thought it was going to be just Tom and Jerry, and Tom getting all the punishes from the book. But seems like the kids are still there, and getting each one their own. By the preview, besides Violet, Tom inflates as well in a different part of the movie.

This looks god awful

Poor Tom and Jerry

Interesting. They did a Tom and Jerry and the Wizard of Oz movie sometime back that was okay, then surprised with a sequel that actually had a good story. Willy Wonka seems like prime animation fodder, although instead of a pure new adaptation, it's an animated remake of the 1971 movie with Tom and Jerry added in.

This looks like fun.  I might pick it up.

I'm glad they went with the far superior Gene Wilder version of the story.  The songs are far superior, the blueberrification (in the Wilder version) is far superior, and the adult/child interaction is far superior.  The latter one (adult/child interaction) is my biggest complaint about the Depp version.  While the various things are happening to the kids, the adults all just kind of stand there slackjawed, not doing anything.  In the Wilder version, the adults are arguing with Wonka, allowing Wonka to have some classic lines ("He's gone! He'll be made into marshmallows in five seconds!" "Impossible, my dear lady! Absurd! Unthinkable!" "Why?!" "Because that pipe doesn't go to the marshmallow room. It goes to the fudge room."), and shouting to their kids. A lot more realistic in my opinion.

I get that the original Wonka movie came out in the 1970s, but why does this movie have to look like it was animated in the 1970s?

Blueberrychick

I get that its their style to have humans look the way they do...

But some of the people look aweful

They all have the same nose as the Ugly Stepsisters from Cinderella. I have no idea why anyone would want to make that their default character style.

I am so confused by this movie. I want to know how the board meeting went for this idea. Did they just throw all their licenses into a hat and randomly pull out these two? I hope the blueberry scene lasts for a long period. That's the only thing I'm mildly interested in.

It might be a legitimately interesting idea to see what other IPs WB owns that could possibly cross over. They just bought this property and already have a movie releasing less than a year later.

WB is all in on the Wonka train and ultimately that can't be too bad for us.

Blimp Boy

I just hope that means more blueberry expansion for the future. To be honest I'm not expecting much. Modern Tom & Jerry is definitely toned down compared to the old one. Now they can't have guns or knives and no politically incorrect humor.

July 11th is the release date, FYI.

That trailer looks very weird to me. Pretty much every scene shown had tom and jerry do their own thing and the Human characters doing their thing. They also pretty much capitalized on that Violet turning violet scene (Perhaps that was the scene that everyone found to be most profound?).

I also saw a clip of the movie's intro and its very off putting to me since I watched the older Tom and Jerry cartoons when I was little. Tom goes around searching for food in the trash and he eventually stumbles upon Jerry attempting to grab a peice of cheese from the trap. The weird part is that Tom prioritizes the cheese over Jerry. The characters have really changed since I last saw them (or maybe this is specific to this movie).

As for the movie itself, I am only curious about the violet scene really. They could've done this without Tom and Jerry.

I don't like necroing a post, but, the digital version of this movie comes out tomorrow.

Who is going to watch the Violet scene in it?

It's $18 on the play store. I don't have that kind of money atm, but hopefully one person will get it eventually and tell us how the Violet scene looks.

I checked the IMDB page and this movie is pretty stacked as far as voice actors are concerned in the weirdest places. Wacko plays Violet's dad and Goku plays Mr. Salt. Fun times in Loompaland.

Lex Luther is a dog, which almost completes the gang. All we need is Shrek to be Slugworth and it will be a party

Shrek involved in movie with blueberry inflation confirmed?

BttrfliesNHurricanes (not verified)

Any updates on what the scene is like?

also an update and fun fact. Apparently it's confirmed that Violet in this movie is voiced by Dallas Lovato who happens to be Demi's 28-29yo older sister. Just thought that was interesting. I wonder how similar her voices is to Demi's. We might have a pseudo-Demi Lovato inflation scene on our hands.

Edit: Apparently after Violet's blueberry scene ends Spike the Dog (yeah that one) gets force fed the three course gum by Jerry and becomes a giant blueberry dog. I'm not touching commentary on this with a ten foot pole.

Anotha One: Apparently Tom gets inflated by the Fizzy Lifting Drinks too. WB delivering all the furry inflation goods.

WTF: Okay third edit! Spike gets inflated by the fizzy lifting drinks too to chase Tom and Jerry. WB has to be on to us for this one movie this is too much.

I just wanna see the violet scenes, hopefully someone bites the bullet soon for it.

Ok so for anyone actually looking forward to watching the clip- DONT.

its as minimal as it gets and isn't worth watching twice. The inflation isn't even shown and it cuts to willy wonka and the dad. Even Charlie and the grandfather dude don't care about it.

only positive maybe is a shot of her from above with an inflated face and half round body.

by the way, not even her belt pops off

Agreed, it's essentially Willy Wonka The Abridged Chocolate Factory at that point.

I suck at writing but decent at drawing!

Berry-DukeAlt

Again, I kept expectations low for a good reason. The only way thos movie could get any following now is to have a moment that becomes a meme. Otherwise, this movie will die in a bargain bin before the DVD and Bluray release

Theoretical question: Does anyone think that the producers and animators involved must have knowingly pared down the blueberry scene to prevent it from being used as fetish fodder? I don't mean to be pessimistic, but perhaps Warner Bros. are aware of us (should rephrase - not this site specifically, just the community in general that gets their kicks from blueberries).

Then again, considering claims that the animal characters get involved in their own expansion scenes makes me think the film creators are just using the concept of inflated bodies for the "antics" and not the fear and fascination of the "process", if that makes sense. Basically, they might not want kids and their families to be hung up on a girl transforming into a freakish helpless sphere. The animals are centerpiece and humor probably drives much of the actions, so I can understand WB shifting the focus away from the poster child. The furries could still probably celebrate. Who knows.

Yonder

I just assumed one of the animators, a closet male furry lover, was pissed off they had to animate a human female inflation. Warner brothers does NOT like human female expansion, if you have noticed they have never done it before really. So they did their best to downplay the violet blueberry scene, and shoved as many male furry inflations in the movie as they could get away with in order to satiate their own passive aggressive needs?

I'm jooooking, just joking...

doubleintegral
doubleintegral's picture

First paragraph - I think you are giving the inflation fetish way too much credit here.

Berry-DukeAlt

So I saw it, and funny enough, I think the only thing that really bugs me is the animation speed isnt varied. Dont get me wrong, violet's scene is downplayed to hell and back, and tom and the dog get more inflation scenes than necessary, but the speed never changed. It was moving at a constant rate that felt a bit lethargic at times.

The original tom and jerry and most other animated films would have a wide range of tones and speeds to suit a moment, but this movie moves at one speed, so the animation looks okay some moments, and very amateurish to just bad at most other moments.

Oh, and as I said before, the movie isnt good XD nothing meme worthy, nothing most inflation artists can work off of, and its just a rehash with a cat and mouse in the background (with a few new scenes added in). Not as awful as I thought, tho. If I had to give a final score, its an ass crack 5 out of 10. I only give it credit for not being the worst thing ive seen.

kidquetzal

Oh hoho, let me tell you. Inflation artists can work off anything. They can take the most tangentially related scene and rehash it over and over again for eternity. They can take the most innocuous thing and make it pornographic, and they can do it consistently and poorly. There will be morphs, there will be face swaps and there will be blueing scenes of scenes which were already as blue as a bluebirds bum. Never underestimate the devastating psychological effects that popping a boner during a cartoon will have on the developing mind.
