Detective Ronda Mord was on the night watch on the east side industrial part of town, when she spotted lights on in the Badyear rubber plant. The plant shuts down promptly at 6:00, and ordinarily is quiet as a tomb by 6:30. Investigating further, Detective Mord finds several cars illegally parked in a loading zone. She tries the side door, and finds it's been forced open. Confident that she can handle any problems herself, she does not call for backup.

Saturday mornings were a calm slow time in our household. That was really surprising actually, given that the house was in fact a converted water tower ten stories above the ground and it was also the secret base of the local superheroine, Airtankgirl. Me. I liked to spend my Saturday mornings doing nothing more than sitting in my jammies, reading magazines, and ignoring the doughnuts for a grapefruit. Which was exactly what I was doing at the moment.

"Manda, look at those women there!"  Lynn hissed at me.

I looked over my fashion magazine at the two women walking into the coffee shop.  They were about the same   age, late twenties, older than us.  They were both attractive and both dressed well in designer clothes, one in tight jeans and a loose top, the other in a casual jacket and skirt set in a lovely salmon colour silk blend.
