What are the Most Memorable Inflation Scenes for You?

I was working on a story in which one of the characters makes multiple references to inflation scenes from movies and television. Yeah, it’s pretty cheesy, but I do that sometimes. It remains to be seen if I’ll keep them in, but that’s another issue.

I realized that all of the references were rather old. The most recent was nearly twenty years old and the oldest was almost fifty. While not quite reaching the level of anachronism, it’s a pretty long time given the ages of the characters involved.

This got me thinking about the tendency for people to effectively age out of the demographic targeted by mass market media. I’ve been involved in the online inflation community for thirty years now, placing me solidly in geezer territory. The scenes that are most memorable to me probably didn’t make nearly as much of an impact on the generation that came after me.

At least, that’s what I assume. So I’m curious, what are the inflation scenes that are the most memorable to people not so ancient as I?

On a side note, there’s a pretty high probability that we’ll get a new version of the Aunt Marge inflation scene sometime around 2030ish. HBO has a series based on the Harry Potter books in the works, due to launch in 2026. Given HBO’s demonstrated willingness to spend eight figures per episode on major series, I’m feeling optimistic about this one.

Hi Mr. Kane,

Sounds like an interesting idea that you are making. I think for me would always either Denise Nickerson's Violet inflation from the original Willy Wonka, and then there is that belly inflation scene from Scream Bloody Murder.

In terms of years in the inflation community...I feel like I am catching up to you in years lol. I still remember when this site was completely different back when AOL and Myspace was a thing. lol I think for me a lot of movies and scenes made an impact on how I started taking interest in the community, and it was also thanks to you and the legends that were in our time. But I understand how you feel. Again, it always makes me happy to hear what other works you been working on. I am thinking about selling my artwork at fetish conventions and trying to hopefully do inflation scenes in movies again.

That does sound pretty cool about the updated Aunt Marge scene with HBO revisiting Harry Potter again.

But, again you and many lengends that have come and go, still imspire people...I mean you still inspire me everyday and again, I feel like I am right there with you or catching up in years. I was told by a newer generation of artists that I came in between you and the legends and the new generation of inflation artists and writers. But, everyday I always want to keep thanking you for being still an inspiration to me.

Limiting it to full-body inflation, my list would be:

Inspector Gadget's "go-go gadget coat"
TMNT cartoon, "Michelangelo's Birthday" episode
Both Wonka movies
Slither

Have there been any good full-body inflation scenes since Slither?  I can't think of any.

I came to this from a slightly different direction, so I'm going to say, a little untraditionally: the Gasx commercials and the Skol commercials.

Other more traditional contenders for me at least are, Repossessed, Class of Nuke 'em High and Josie and the Pussycats.  I know its all old, I think the classics are best.

TheDarkOneZK

I remember those commercials and the Malabar gum videos

Hm...the major one is obviously the '05 Wonka movie. There's folks younger than that movie legally able to join this community now. Outside of that, as part of the "younger" side of this community, I would probably say your best bet is less specific movie/TV references and more references to specific artists or high profile internet works.

I looked up a few that I could think of off the top of my head only to discover how old they were.   A notable one that came to mind, Mood Boobs, is from 2006 but I don't think that qualifies as mainstream/mass media and it's somewhat tangental at that.  I can think of some other, newer ones than that but they also fall under the same notion.

I think the perception that there is a dearth of new examples is a result of those early days of the Internet.  There had been many, many decades of sparsely distributed examples that one might might have briefly, randomly caught a glimpse of so that when the ability came along to pool memories and collate everything into an easily accessible archive, it seemed as if the media was suddenly awash in them and always had been.  I would guess the rate at which these now find their way into the mainstream is probably not much different than before.  Remember that to the vast majority of those creating and watching, it's just an obvious visual gag and nothing else.

Also, remember:  media is consumed much differently now than not too long ago and in so many different formats not that were not even imaginable before.  Speaking generally, media production and consumption has fractured into niches to such an extent that something must be particularly well known in one area to find its way into another - and that requires a big enough crossover of participants in the different niches to call attention to it.  It was much easier to find and share examples when the number of sources was so limited.

Off the top of my head would have to be Monty Python's THE MEANING OF LIFE Clip with Mr. Creosote. Which (in my opinion and I'm sorry if anyone disagrees) totally turned me off popping.

Another more recent one that set me off again was this dragon in Bofuri.

I'd never seen one like this before. While the dragon from LWA blows up like a sphere, this one in Bofuri is like giant orbs pushing out all over its body. I especially love how even the tail gets inflated like this. By the end the dragon resembles a huge inflated blob.

  • I guess one could say I have a mishmash of memorable inflation scenes.
  • The Gas-X ads from the mid 1990s hold a special place since they made me realize I haf a thing for inflation (I sometimes imagine women saying "When I get gas, I feel like this" during some inflation scenes)
  • Someone else mentioned Nuke 'Em High and Repossessed, but I would like to add the tickle scene from the Raggedy Ann and Andy movie, but I imagine it's a woman inflating.

So yeah, I'm probably in same generation as Luther and Airtankgirl5.

I'd say various Loony Tune segments, Josie & the Pussy Cats - In Space segment where Alexandra inflates Josie's nurse uniform, I was really disappointed that Jessica Rabbit didn't get a turn being inflated in the movie or the shorts; Leprechaun 3, Loretta's inflation; various sex-ploitation movies from the 70's and 80's where female characters were 'modified' with on camera breast inflation[e.g. Weird Science].  I'd mention Marge Dursley, but I find the character so repellant that even though the inflation is done extremely well, I can't stand the woman. [Having someone inflate 'Tonks' Or 'Belletrix' would be better]  There's a scene in Jeckle & Hyde, Back Together where a women is getting a breast augmentation by being pumped full of what I assume is silicone [the doctor gets distracted by a discussion while the machine runs resulting in gargantuan breasts];  On that note; Everything You Wanted to Know About Sex [the Woody Allen film] has a short segment involveing breast expansion/inflation and a giant, murderous breast terrorizing the country side.  Oh, and the parody film, Flesh Gordon has a well known breast inflation/popping scene.

The villain demise in teh Bond flick, 'Live and Let Die.' I saw that on TV the same week I first saw Wonder Woman in her wetsuit (if you don't know, google 'wonder woman' and 'wetsuit') and the combination of those two shows triggered something" I wouldn't mind struggling with Wonder Woman like that with her trying to inflate me.

superflate

I've seen quite a few inflation scenes or scenarios in my time on this round blue rock we call home.  But the scenes that led me into this fine fetish of ours' were the following that I viewed all within a few months time one summer either on VHS or ole cable telly vision.

Son of Flubber, Wilder's Wonka, Bliss of Mrs Blossom, and Modern Problems (the last two started me inflating balloons in my clothes)

Didn't really see many others until the internet became a thing.  *goes back to whittling in my rocking chair*  Now get off my lawn!
