If I might suggest... also filter out "Access denied" accounts. I just tried the tool a little, and hit a load of users whose profiles could not be visited.

If they stay logged out past the threshold and get removed from the search tool, what happens when they log back in? Do they automatically get added back into the search tool, or do they have to go into their profile and add themselves back?

They'll be added back when they log in.
The site records the datetime that the user last accessed the site. The tool would just exclude people whose last access was more [x] days before [time query was run]. Last access time will update the enxt time the user logs in, and they'll show up in the listings again.

Yeah, I kinda figured as much.
Here's another thought: what if you just put all of these poll options in a filter on the search tool? Have it exclude a certain amount by default, but let the user change it. It would also be nice to see the last time someone was online.

Making the time frame a user-selectable filter might be beyond what I can do with the current toolset, but I'll check it out.
I'm hesitant to include last online information. The more precise the information that's revealed about a user, the more privacy concerns it raises. Way back in the day, the site used to list who was currently online and it caused problems.

I looks like 3 months is the winner. I've updated the Roleplay Partner Search Tool to only include people who have logged in with in the last 90 days. This filters out about 85% of the users. Hopefully this will make the tool much more useful.
This site has been around for a long time. Users come and go, and I doubt many of them change their Contact preferences before they vanish. As a result, well over 80% of the people who appear in the Roleplay Partner Search Tool haven't logged into the site in over a year.
I suspect that this dramatically reduces the tool's utility.
So I plan on filtering the list based on when the user's last login was. This poll will help determine how large that window should be.
