How ok is that?

Dear all, I need your advice.

I wonder if it would be comfortable with community if I'd open paid commissions?

I'm writing a toolset for creating adventures and encounters in inflationary universe - with one single-user campaign made in it and supplied with it. The project is freeware with open source.

I use only free tools. Still, there are costs that I bear. I know that many people here - Luther, Blowupboy and many others - put their own money in this hobby of ours. That makes me uneasy wanting to cover production costs.

Please don't get me wrong: I do not want to earn on you. I just don't want to pay for making a free thing.

I feel uneasy about asking this - but I need your advice. Please let me know what you think.

a long P.S. - some data

So far in the past 2 months there have been:
- paid lessons for 687 $
- a tablet for drawing 184 $
- a new stylus for 9 $
- antivirus for VioletGambit, she used to loose quest descriptions two times to viruses before buying it - for 20 $ (I think). That one I will transfer to her.
There might be a need for a website hosting/url rent later, will try to avoid that. Also, paid version of a graphic engine might become necessary - also will try to use a free one.

The little plan is this:
1 person inflating, with controls - nothing, just inflation
then some rough field mini-game with it
then a simple sports simulator for one character - version 0
then a bit of quest tools, some more characters and a bit of VioletGambit's awesome quests
then a preview - incomplete campaign, incomplete toolset, giving a flavour what is it - version 1
finally a release - version 2

Readiness:
World, encounters-battles-competitions, game mechanics, GDD & other documentation, planning - all done
Music - done
Visual materials - 0% done
Quest tools - 0% done
Programming - 20% done
Campaign - 10% done

Risks:
None that I can see - it's a straightforward process. I'll get there, unless I pop ^_^

All right, after discussing with a few from community - people say there's nothing wrong with this form of support ^_^

So I'll give it a try.

I intend to cover production costs, not to earn on you. I don't have the funds for investment so "spend now, sell the game later" isn't an option for me. And I'm not comfortable with people paying and waiting - so crowdsourcing isn't good either. Commissions means you have something in hand in a month.

If anybody here would like to support the first-ever role-playing game in inflationary universe - I will be most happy to draw something for you for a small fee.

From fetish-related I'll be happy to draw anything reversible and clean. Out of irreversible I'm ok with a clean pop.

Also, I'm happy to draw anything unrelated to fetish - real life, sci-fi, fantasy, or any idea of yours.

My name on DA is the same as here - Lopni.

Thank you!
