Any Inflationists at Oxford Uni?

I'm not entirely sure if this is the right place to put this/ I should be putting this on the site full stop - if that's the case, please tell me! But I'm joining Oxford Uni in the coming October, and I was wondering if anyone on this site is there currently/ will be there? I have this terirbly romantic notion of forming a society there under a euphemism, but more likely than not, I'm the only one...anyway, I await your responses with baited breath!

This won't help you at all but I used to go to Oxford Brookes. Unfortunately I don't live in Oxford any more but at least we know the potential for other inflationists is there! Who knows, maybe there are many others who haven't discovered the community yet...

Also, well done for getting into Oxford! It's an awesome city too, you'll have a good time.

Yes, congratulations!

If you could somehow get something like that going it would be awesome. It would have to be a bit like the Freemasons though - some kind of secret sign. This is one reason i suggested we should all wear purple on 30th June every year.

When i was in halls at Uni as a first year, someone looked through my keyhole when i was stuffing (i did inflation back then but they didn't see me). I never completely lived it down and you have to remember that the people with whom you come in contact you will not only be stuck with for three years, but may later become useful contacts after graduation, so early impressions are important. You are also very probably closing down certain careers too if you advertise what you're into - this proclivity is one reason i didn't go into politics. That said, it would be fantastic if you could get something like that going and i wish you luck. Probably it would need to start online. Also, be aware of the cliquiness and bullying elements there - people are insecure and tend to pick on differences.

We don't know how common we are. It might be that there would be, say, one person at Oxford and you're them. Then again, we might encourage people to be into it by publicising it.

Thank you very much, both of you! I will bear in mind your advice - mum's the word and all that... - but I will see if I can try and bring some fresh blood in. I will report back in October!

Thanks. I look forward to it. I sometimes also wonder if there are potential inflation fetishists with latent desires they've never had awoken, so it could be more common than it seems. If you were able to make some kind of discreet overtures, maybe people would discover it in themselves.

Hmmm...mysterious videos appearing on potential candidates' electronics? Nothing shady here!
