New Official CatCF Musical to Debut at London's West End Summer 2013

If you live in the UK you're in luck. This may be old news to some but I haven't seen any recent topics about it lately. Unlike the speculation with the Broadway Wonka this one already has one foot in the door. So far only Wonka is cast but the show isn't set to preview until May. Warner Bros. Theatre Production is producing it so big bucks are involved. I wasn't convinced until I saw that Sam Mendes, originally a stage director and now an Oscar-award winning director, is directing it. He directed American Beauty which is my fave movie so besides everything I'm psyched :') Plus the guy who wrote the music for Hairspray is writing songs too :3

So I'm hoping A) This doesn't fall through the cracks and B) it's successful. Just thought it might be nice to stir up some conversation.

Well, that is good news, but considering that i even got embarrassed when i watched CATCF and the Aunt Marge inflation in Harry Potter in the cinema, i can't see myself going to it, which is a shame because it could be really good. Maybe it'll come out on DVD or someone will record the appropriate scene on a mobile? I assume it will be a suit inflation, which is good, and actually being there would be brilliant. I also expect it to be very expensive. Maybe they'll give away golden tickets!

Oh thank god.  I've had about enough renditions of "Chew it" and ear-gratingly annoying southern accents.  Here's hoping they don't decide to keep either one.

An update on this. So further casting has been announced and though we don't know about the golden ticket winners yet we do know who the parents are. I looked up Mr. Beauregarde and was pleasantly surprised. Apparently he is being played by an actor named Paul J Medford. What's interesting to note is that he is not white. I don't know the politically correct term for a black Englishman (He is Barbadan and obviously not African-American) but I love the diversity. Basically in her third official interpretation of the story Violet is either going to be black or mixed race barring an unspoken adoption premise but knowing professional theatre they like to keep casting 'realistic'. So yeah just a stage play but interesting nonetheless. I'm looking forward to see how this shapes up.
