Inflation wiki

This is borne out of ideas thrown around on the Wikipedia thread. Since I have spare server space and lots of bandwidth, and since I would like to give something back to the community, I am starting an inflation wiki. Before I get too involved in setting it up, I'd like to know if there is enough interest in it to keep it maintained.

I still have a few tweaks to make before I release the URL, but work is being done on it.

Personally, I have not much interest in it frankly. Of course, I know nothing about keeping internet sites, but why would we need a wiki? We already know what we need to know.

We write the books not for the masters who already know, but for the students who wish to learn.

That having been said, I still think that there's plenty of information out there that might be surprising to those who have only been around for a few years. A compilation of information is a very good thing. This community isn't that old, but there's already plenty of knowledge that's being lost.

Luther, that's a good point that I thought about. A lot of the newcomers, even within the past five years, probably never visited WrenSpot, Spectre's Big Time, Billy McFred's page, or any of the other sites that used to be popular way back when. People may not know as much about the community as they think, especially when it comes to the online history of it.

There is plenty of information available but it isn't all available in the same place and it is in it's natural raw form, not an easily digestible article form... It would be good to see articles written on key sites, events, themes and contributors to the community, not just for us to direct non-fetishists who are curious to but for people in the community to find out things such as what sites their favourite artist contributed to, what went on in the community before they joined it and where one of their favourite themes originated.

I'm interested but I can't guarantee I have much time to contribute myself.

One issue on which I would like some feedback:

What should the scope be? I was thinking all human-related types of inflation (BE, B2E/BI, butt, no furry) and blueberry. Maybe some WG also?

I'm all for unity so I guess some weight gain should be included.

Though I'm not a fan of that stuff.

No.

Weight gain is not a part, nor does it belong within the inflation community. Weight Gain is a seperate fetish all-together. Just like Muscle Growth. Just like Pinocio Noses. These things do however fall together under 'expansion'. Which is what I assume you are mistaking inflation for.

I'm very tired of being associated with fat admirers and people thinking I find Fat Albert and Rosanne Bar to be the bees knees.

This would definitely be an excellent idea to have. Given as a source of a semi-history/information of the inflation fetish to those new to it or those of curious minds. What does one need to do in order to be contributing?

For the scope:
If you include WG, maybe as an exception if it causes rotundness than pudginess for some people's taste.

Be patient ;) since I don't have the wiki in a presentable form yet.

Since I'll also publicize it on my DeviantArt page, I will be restricting creation/modification of articles to registered users only (similar to the nature of posting on this forum). This is mainly to prevent Internet graffiti from the haters, but fortunately, writers don't attract the same flamebait on DA that artists do. :D

I was thinking of adding the same qualifier, but it is a fine line.

However, in terms of content, I have no idea what the wiki would contain. Articles ABOUT artists/writers/sites, for sure, and that would be pretty benign. But actual stories and artwork? Who knows. I guess we'll see what happens.

I would love to keep it methods of inflation, without getting into weight gain. I have always felt they were different enough to draw that distinction.

I'd also love to see a section on the history of the fetish as it developed online.

I'm also all for the inflation only approach. I don't mind coming across weight gain as I look at other sites which are more 'expansion' that just inflation, but it would be nice to have a box of stuff to say this is all about inflation and just inflation...

Just a little pointer I've been looking at the way this site used to be on the wayback machine... when it had a pink background and all... perhaps we could include samples from the wayback machine in there... people could see what the Wrenspot looked like :P

BI.org had a pink background?

I was thinking the same thing. Perhaps you're thinking of Inflate123's site, which is still considerably pink?

I remember the pictures part of the site had a pink background.

No what it was was I thinking of the picture gallery on Luther's site... which was pink, and which was the main draw of the site so I often went straight to that. The main page had a background of that Shade Magazine 'Pop Art' cover, washed out with a light blue.

It's on the wayback machine, you can see it for yourself

Apparently I have a poor memory and I suck. That is a deadly combination.

I would definitely like to contribute. I also don't quite know what the scope could be, but there are a lot of possibilities. There's methods of inflation, popping/not popping, active or passive, the history of the thing (anyone read Jonathan Swift on the subject), reviews of major media like Willy Wonka - the possibilities are endless. The only trouble is, i don't have much time to devote to it, but i can certainly try to put a few things together.

I think it would be very helpful to point people in that direction, and also for people who feel isolated. Also, it would be doing something about the issue of scepticism, which we had from wikipedia and the problem i had with my therapist.
