Inflation in movies and TV

Based on the "Inflation in old video games" topic, talk about inflation in movies and television that you have seen or heard about, particularly if they're obscure or have not been mentioned.

First I remember an inflation in a cartoon called "Bruno the Kid", which involved a child voiced by Bruce Willis mistaken as a secret agent. One episode had a mad scientist cloning people from the past such as Genghis Khan and Billy the Kid. Bruno enters a room in the scientist's castle and is confronted with Billy the Kid, who laughs at him when he says he's going to take care of him. Bruno takes his chance and tosses a penny, a specially designed one that turns into a hot air balloon when wet, which goes down Billy's throat. The inevitable happens and he starts to swell up, so Bruno runs out the room and covers his ears. An off-screen bang is heard and Bruno then runs off. Sure, it's both male and also of not a very appealing subject, but I just rememeber it and no-one else seems to =P

I'm trying to remember other ones, but they escape me at the moment... Does anyone else have any they'd like to share, maybe even with pictures to go with it?

Two obscure ones I've never seen posted anywhere:

1) Jay Leno did a BE gag a few years ago. As one of a series of quick jokes, he had an actress come on stage to model the improvement on the Wonder Bra: The "Magic Bra". Air powered, of course (with sound effects), it inflated nicely under the woman's blazer. Quoth Jay: "Very nice". Short, sweet, and yes - very nice indeed, Jay. Oh, and don't forget his fake "Britney Spearmint" bubble gum commercial, available wherever fine inflation videos are downloaded.

#b: The short lived Fox comedy "Woops!". 'Twas a light-hearted sitcom set in the apocalyptic aftermath of a nuclear holocaust. 8O One of the women in the group of survivors finds a crystal that she makes into a necklace and then... (drumroll) BE ensues. Not really inflation, but again: very nice. Slow growth for most of the show with a quick balloony deflation at the very end.

The old saturday Supercade had a number of cartoons (short lived) that were based on video games of the day.
One was Qbert. In one, Qbert's girlfriend was entering into a beauty contest. The bully/villan of the show had his girlfriend in the contest to. To make sure that Qbert's gal lost, he switched her bathing suit with a self inflating one.
While she poses on stage, the suit blows up and floats her away. Of course she gets down, and wins the contest.
The bully's girlfriend stuffs the blow up bathing suit into his leather jacket and blows it up and floats him away.
Good luck finding this one! It's one of those shows that .0001% of the audience even remembers. Tapes of it are VERY rare, if not damaged.

OMG...I remember this. I remember it because it was inflatable and completely and utterly ridiculous! I was like...what? I was happy to have seen it but I was still confused by it.

I remember in the cartoon of 'The Mask' a couple of male inflations. (unfortunately no female inflations)
1) appeared in the title sequence to every episode had the Mask inflating his ass like an airbag to cushion the impact of a car which was driving at him.
2) There was an episode where an accident in a balloon factory imbued it's owner with the properties of a ballon. He became balloon man, a villian who could blow himself up and then explode, but return to normal. But when he put these bombs in his belt, his exploding would cause the bombs to explode too, but not harming him. The Mask defeated him when he tried to blow up Edge City by replacing his nuclear bomb with a bag of popcorn. if only there could have been a balloon woman.

Fukureru-Shogun

Wait....Q-bert had a girlfriend!? O_O;

Yes! I Remeber this. :) Would of been absolutely amazing if the villan were female. He inflates really big too (much like the size of FMSU's pics but more balloonie like).

The villan was defeated when he inflated largely and the Mask stuck an air valve into his leg causing him to deflate all the way to a point where he looked like a pooltoy with no air in it (the head remained normal)

Yeah, I'm curious about this too. Was she an ardvark/football hybrid too or was she human?

Zepylin

Then there's the inflation in Futurama of the Lucy Liu robots. No-one mentioned that in this topic yet...

It's when a robot clone of Lucy Liu attackes Leela and the rest of the cast (minus Fry), but she gets kicked against a fire hydrant which Bender then turns on, causing her to swell up. Zoidberg then pops her. There's another later near the end of the episode when hundreds of Lucy Liu robots all eat loads of unpopped popcorn which was dumped on them in a movie theatre. But a projector is shined on them, the warmth of the light heating up the popcorn inside them and causing them to puff up and explode.

Those are two inflations I wish I could find screen caps and/or videos of...

Mogman

never fear mon ami!

Been holding onto this nugget for AGES now :3 forgotten how I managed to capture them...

Zepylin

Ah, brilliant. While the pic's look good bigger, I'm just thankful I can see some of those two scenes again.

I need to get Futurama season 3, since that's to my knowledge where the episode is from. Plus I have the first two seasons, since I'm thankfully a fan of the show and not just into it for the inflation scene XD

doubleintegral
doubleintegral's picture

Unfortunately, it's not female inflation, but it is one that I remember fondly, even though I only saw it once and haven't seen it in well over 10 years:

In the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon, there was an episode in which it was Michelangelo's birthday. I don't remember much of the plot for that episode, but somehow the other three turtles get inflated to huge sizes by a tiny little orb. They float to the top of the room they are in and are unresponsive while inflated. I think their inflation was a direct result of Michelangelo not doing something he was supposed to be doing because he was paying too much attention to himself. Sensai lectures Michelangelo while the other three are floating above them, then returns them to normal.

It would be interesting to see this scene again. According to an episode list on Wikipedia, it is episode #49 from the 1989 season (WOW, that was a LONG time ago).

EDIT: Found a synopsis for this episode.

Ataru

There was this one shot cartoon short on Nickelodeon called Weird Answer Kommand (W.A.K.) where these three anthro characters solve obscure questions. One of the episodes revolved around the one character eating a bunch of potato chips to prove that noone can eat just one chip. They get hooked up to a feeding machine and they swell up like a balloon.
Anyone else remember this one?
~A

I was told to change my signature. So I did.

Roger64

Ataru I remember that!

But it wasn't a machine that made the character big, there was a machine but all it did was add up all of the ptoatoes the character was eatting ,which turned out to be EVERY one in the world (including the burnt disgusting one at the bottom of the bag)

MaximillianZetoX

It seems that a lot of people remember that clip...I do too...but it's almost impossible to find that clip...I said almost...ya never know what may show up one day.

Never let those who dislike what you enjoy get to you. If they won't bother to understand than it's not worth your time. Hold your head up high and be proud for what you like!

Unagi Roll

Yeah, I remember that too, Ataru. And she kept saying "more, please!" and gobbling down the whole bag, stuffing up really big and fat. haha. good times.

srflour

The Futurama scenes in question are indeed from Series 3 which I have on DVD.

I don't have video in since I upgraded my graphics card, so I'll have to see if I have any software that can rip it from my PC's DVD drive.

I'll need somewhere to post it. Maybe Stormrs Zone (if it hasn't been taken into the BEA yet - it looks a possibility lately).

"Continue the research..."

The_Warlock

Um...Bambi took over stormr's site, and shes not even remotely affiliated with the BEA, unless you count posting there before starting her own site.

The Warlock

Mogman

I think srflour mistook the small amount of videos in the gallery they took from BEA (legitimately) as a sign that BEA were taking them over.

srflour

***Longish Post Ahead***

First point of order-

Dr Curvy posts sample pics in the BEA user gallery whenever Bambi does a new photo or video set. Plus he has a gallery in the members' area which also includes Bambi.

They both also have pages at deviantART. Bambi doesn't have her pics on her page, DrCurvy has his gallery full of them (and describes himself there as 'Inflation Photographer'). Furthermore, his "Website" link there is to Bambi's Site.

Seems vaguely possible to me that he takes her pics and videos. Someone has to.

That's the first connection to the BEA...

<>Please note that I'm a fan of Bambi and appreciative of what they do and the fact that between them they supply a sizable amount of good quality, free sample content.

Second point of order -

To quote a paragraph from the most recent update at the site-formerly-known-as-Stormr's:

"Also, I'd like to thank each of you for your patience while our EM's webmaster, Sheber, has been hard at work over the past couple of weeks giving the galleries a visual organization, along with cleaning up 'backend' logs, scripts, etc... so that we can enjoy easier and faster naviagtion while visiting all the contributions made here at the EM. A HUGE thanks goes out to our Sheber for his work, management, and insightfulness as our webmaster - with his skills and dedication this website will continue to flourish and *expand* all the more! ;-)"

Sheber is a BEA contributor among other things, and also took over the running of Dan's (inflate123) Video Vault which became part of the BEA. The original short story of that here - http://members.aol.com/inflate123/private/video.html

That's the second connection to the BEA, and a very similar chain of events in that respect thus far.

<>(2nd) Please Note: Again I make no criticism of anyone mentioned above. I take the same view as Dan's original journal in the link above, which explains fully well how things are in these sort of matters. I would take the exact same view if that's what happens in this case (ie. I wasn't complaining then and I wouldn't now or in future).

___________________________________

OK Warlock? OK Mogman?

The key phrase in what was actually an aside remark to the matter at hand is "...it looks a possibility..." In other words, mildly speculative on my part for the reasons stated above. Suffice to say, Warlock, I tend to disagree with "...not even remotely affiliated with the BEA..."

And Mogman, no I didn't think what you suggested. At least you clearly phrased your comment as a reasonable guess. It's the manner of Warlock's post I have an issue with - sarcastic and condescending.

Surely we all don't have to start putting "IMHO" at the end of nearly every sentence we post? Pretty much anything (other than most banter) one says in a discussion forum apart from what is stated as a fact is either an opinion or speculation.

The bottom line is that as a small favour to the members here, I was hinting that it might be a good idea to get over there if there are clips or pics you haven't got around to saving yet. If it does go you'll be glad you did, if it doesn't you'll have your faves stashed away close at hand, and as a result might use less of the bandwidth that is still being provided for free.

Instead I get spoken to (and not for the first time here)like I'm an idiot. Hopefully it's now more apparent that I'm not, and also that I'm not rumour-mongering or mud-slinging.

I'm careful about what I say and if I speculate as I have here, it's not without some reason.

I fear though that now this will get blown up out of all proportion (and not in the usual good body-inflation way).

I would suggest that a far better response than "Shoot first..." from anyone interested in my reasoning would have been: "What makes you say/think that?" A lot of flame wars that solve nothing can be avoided that way.

Agreed? Let's not have one here.

Tinmible: Q-Bert's girlfriend pretty much looked like Q-Bert with a wig and dress on.

Also, in the Futurama episode about the giant bees, Leela hallucinates towards the end of the episode and sees all her friends swell up (in mostly disturbing ways) and burst like balloons. Amy blows up in a skimpy figure skater outfit...then graphically explodes.

I'd say that Srflour mean that BEA would be taking over most inflation/expansion related sites, in the same way people says that Google is taking over several internet services, like when it got filiated with Orkut.
The "its a possibility" part sounds like a joke on how BEA grew so much (no pun intended), not a "conspiration theory" about them actualy going to take over old Stormz site.

You guys need to calm down. Seriously.

drogen

The Futurama episode was 'The Sting'.
As for the Q-Bert one, no clue.

wezz

There was this show called "Stunt Dawgs" or something along that line of spelling that had 5 good guys and one of them was a girl named sizzle i think. Anyways they had this one episode where they all eat muffins and all become super fat in like a second. Anyone else remember this?

eggs.g

Yes Wezz I remember that. I've been looking for it for ages and never found it. It seems like Stunt Dawgs wasn't a very popular cartoon.

The_Warlock

Well, srflour, the fact that DrCurvy, sheber, and Bambi all met and decided to start a buisness of their own at the BEA forum does not mean that they are in fact affiliated with the BEA. Affiliated in the sense of 'we know some of the same people,' sure, but not in the 'secret business partners' way.

Don't you think, if Bambi's site was connected to the BEA, they wouldn't seperate the two so completely? Seperte memberships, seperate forums, seperate sites on seperate servers...a lot of work for an affiliate.

To me, it looks like Bambi is trying to do a couple of things: become better known in the community, and do good things for the community. She hosts Gammarai's site, and hosted Stormr's long before taking it over.

As for DrCurvy and sheber; well, the doctor gets free advertising for Bambi by posting her pics in the UG, and as any member of the BEA forum can do so, and he was a member of the forum long before he met Bambi, it'd be silly of him not to post them on a site who's readership would be interested in her stuff.

As for sheber, being the chief administrator for two seperate sites doesn't mean those sites are connected in any way; it means the webmaster has two jobs. That's all.

There's a lot of negativity in the community aimed at the BEA; a lot of it is (as far as I can tell) because they have a (gasp) large paying-members-only section. In other words, people don't want to pay for it. A lot of people try to mask their anger in reasons like "They're trying to take over the whole community" and it's just not true. So I'll point that out, sure; the BEA is far from perfect, no argument there, and I would run it differently if I was in charge; but it's still the biggest BE site out there, and there is a lot of good there.

So there's my side. If they're affiliated, they're going to a lot of excess effort to make it look like they're not. What's more likely, a vast internet conspiracy about two sites with similar themes secretly operating together, or a couple of prominent members of a preexisting BE community decided to go in on a new BE site with a new and popular model?

Sorry Warlock, I often get blank emails from here so I don't always know if or where there are replies. I only just looked back here today.

I'd prefer to not keep bringing this matter to the fore. It sort of flared up more than it really should have for an aside to an aside.

"Affiliated with" is not what I said. There's a big difference. You pretty much put those words in my mouth there. That's my other issue with your original post. Anyway I pretty much said my piece on that earlier and was really more concerned with either others coming in and stirring things up troll-style, or that little thought getting blown all out of proportion. So I'm past it if you are, and I'd prefer not to turn this into a debate for the sake of those concerned. I guess you might feel a little put out by me more or less chastising you earlier, which I can understand, but I think I was reasonable enough.

There's little point in speculating who might do what when we simply don't know, though the sorts of aforementioned associations often lend themselves to various possibilities in the future.

But to briefly answer the gist of what you've said above; Keeping an established site pretty much as is seems an easier, more prudent way to move forward than the major work and upheaval of any sort of amalgamation. At least not until the point might be reached where it may be deemed better in the longer term, assuming that's even on the cards. Adding the Video Vault to the site is a logical move in my book, and benefits all of us, which is the main thing. So I'm happy.

BTW, I'm not a "BEA hater", otherwise their monthly membership subs wouldn't be showing up on my credit card statements.

Now can we please let this thread fall back on topic. I'd rather spend my free PC time working on getting the Futurama clips captured (plus a couple of others, which I'd most likely then submit to the Expansion Mansion).

"Continue the research..."

The_Warlock

Well, srflour, you did actually say:

Quote:
Suffice to say, Warlock, I tend to disagree with "...not even remotely affiliated with the BEA..."

And no, I'm not put out by you, or your 'chastisement,' which was really essentially a conspiracy theory based on who visits what sites. I just feel there's no need for baseless speculation about what takeovers 'look to be a possibility lately.' Especially when, as you said, we don't know. All it accomplishes is starting rumors, that some people take as fact, that then spreads, which leads to more people angry at something that hasn't even happened.

Thanks for capping those clips; I don't recall which ones you're referring to but you're doing something for the community, and it's appreciated.

I saw an inflation in the Movie Space Jam. The movie with looney toons and Micheal Jordan. Some guy gets flattened and the Medics inflate him up real big and they took the hose out and turned back to normal.

Anonymous

Yea over at FIR someguy pointed out that there was inflation on Hi Hi Puffy AmiYummi and Bratz.

I believe the Puffy Amiyummi episode was "The Koshi Fish" or something like that, and the Bratz episode was 28. Starrin' and Stylin'

If anybody can get possibly screen caps or possibly even download the episodes off of Bit Torrent would be greatly appreciated

Breast_inflator44

That fat guy being inflated in Space Jam was Wayne Knight, funny guy XD

Too bad it wasn't Lola TT___TT, oh well lol XP

Yes my good man Max please if you can, kindly get those clips if its within your power sir.

The Bratz one seems epically interesting since the show is CG.....

It leaves one to imagination =D

Fukureru-Shogun

I kind of want to see the Bratz one because I hate them.

Maybe its my masochism, or maybe its simply the way the scene seems to play out, but I'd be interested.

Breast_inflator44

Nope it wasn't Dan, it was Wayne 100% ^^

I have the movie so I know! XP

MaximillianZetoX

Alright. I'll see what I can do. Personally I hate the merchandise and can't even stand a preview clip of the show as it screams...err...nevermind...but I'll see what I can do about the clip. It's not gonna be easy but give me time...or maybe I'll get lucky and some how it gets a re-run...that would be useful.

But it seems so odd that a show like that will even have the idea of body inflation...or maybe it's to scare those that watch it that if you eat those types of food you'll be huge like that...(In a way...I wish. It'll be hilarious!) Hah! I'm just overanalyzing it. Off to find this episode I am.

Yo, I'm here with some info.

http://www.bcdb.com/cartoon_synopsis/72631-Jade%27s_Dream.html

That's the link to the Bratz episode synopsis where this "body inflation" happened. It's Season 1 Episode 14 "Jade's Dream." It's a dream episode so that explains why that happened. It was also a re-run episode since the original was aired in Dec. Unfortunately I have not been able to find the episode. I've tried YouTube, Google Video and good ol' Google itself. Nada...nothing. The only alternative I have now is see if they re-run that episode again one day...ugh...and record it and find hardware where I can transmit the episode into my computer OR see if they have a DVD...

Not looking good so far. Eh. I haven't given up yet...

Speaking of Inflation...

I heard through EXBlue MSN Group that there was a Willy Wonka tribute with the actual Blueberry inflation on SNL (Saturday Night Live) There was a link through YouTube but it was taken down due to copyright infridgement. The credit for that find goes out to PrivateJoker in which he has found a lot of good things in the past.

Have you guys heard of this skit done in SNL?

Fukureru-Shogun

I think the bratz thing is due to the market base being horrified of the idea- probably why I'm intrigued, I've always liked inflation as a foil for the vain..

*ahem* anyway, the SNL skit sounds interesting too...I've not heard of it though, do you know who was involved?

Anonymous

Yes my good sir, I have seen the SNL blueberret skit. First off, the inflation is not that grand but hey, Im not complaining :p Actress Racheal Dratch is the one portraying Violet. It just starts off with her in Violet=esq clothes chewing the gum and saying the inmortal description "mmmmm baked poteato, roast beef, and blueberry pie!" and the turns blue and it cuts away to the guy as willy wonka (dont remember his name) saying "it always goes wrong with the dessert" and then all of a sudden Violet is blowing up but not actually blowing-up, just wearing a fat suit of some sort. It then shows an pointless interview with her as an adult, and thats about it. I'll try to get the vid and post it here

Unagi Roll

I remember an episode of the Earthworm Jim cartoon show wherein the Princess What'shername character gets blown up by a "FATtomic ray gun" Other male characters do too, but her inflation was actually pretty good. The comment she makes too is classic. "It's ok, this is actually a popular look on my home planet." :D

smiler

Yeah the inflationation has that scene I believe.

chaoschild

I remeber a scene in ..I think it was darkwing duck. he goes to a alternet dimension (sorry about the spelling and grammar) and his neice is a super hero who's weakness is pop. well near the end of the ep. she is completly filled with pop(can't think of a better way to say it) I don't know if they actually show her expanding tho.

yea that sounds really familier....except I think she just like for some reason just decides to drink a lot of soda and she gets all fat and round from all the carbination and floats around a bit or something like that....I think I remember seeign that clip at the inflationation but none of thier damn videos work for me!! =(
