I often get asked this question. Actually, that's a lie. I very rarely get asked about the nuts and bolts of this site. But in case anyone out there is curious and too timid to ask...

I do all of my story writing in OpenOffice, and all of my image editing using the GIMP. You may have noticed a trend here. Since I started hosting the site myself, I've gradually made the transition to using more and more open source software. Right now everything except the operating system is open source. I plan to move the site to Linux eventually, but considering the pace I move that'll probably happen next year.
